Architecture

Four layers. One institutional stack.

SHAKSETTLE, NOVRAIL, SHAKSETTLE, and the SHAK Protocol form a single vertical ownership stack. Each layer has one purpose, one interface, and clear separation from the layers above and below it.

L1
Institutional network
SHAKSETTLETM

Governance, membership, standards, and the operating institution above the rail. Councils, admission, rulebook, and network integrity.

L2
Global rail
NOVRAILTM

Routing, coordination, and confirmation across every settlement environment. The message plane and the control plane of institutional value movement.

L3
Distributed ledger
SHAKSETTLETM

The permissioned institutional distributed ledger that anchors identity, state, and finality for the network.

L4
Protocol
SHAK ProtocolTM

The shared message families, identity primitives, and settlement semantics that every participant implements to speak the network.

Operating architecture

Five coordinated operating layers.

  • Identity information
  • Settlement confirmations
  • Exception messages
02
Routing
  • Approved technical routes
  • Bank connectivity
  • Custodian connectivity
  • Payment-token networks
  • Digital-asset platforms
  • Tokenisation platforms
03

  • Cash-leg coordination
  • Token-leg coordination
  • Digital-asset delivery
  • RWA delivery
  • Liquidity validation
  • Asset availability validation
04
Settlement
  • Fiat settlement
  • Payment-token settlement
  • Digital-asset settlement
  • Delivery-versus-payment
  • Payment-versus-payment
  • Finality confirmation
05
Reconciliation and reporting
  • Transaction matching
  • Ledger reconciliation
  • Settlement-status monitoring
  • Failed-settlement reporting
  • Audit trails
  • Regulatory reporting
Message families

Structured, signed, versioned.

  • Instruction: signed transfer instructions carrying identity, jurisdiction, and settlement intent.
  • Coordination: routing, path selection, sequencing, and cross-ledger orchestration messages.
  • Confirmation: signed institutional settlement outcomes delivered to every counterparty.
  • Control: membership, rulebook updates, and operational messages between the network and its participants.
Identity model

One institutional identity across every environment.

  • Members are identified by cryptographically anchored institutional identities on SHAKSETTLE.
  • Every message and confirmation is signed against those identities, verifiable end to end.
  • Identity carries jurisdiction, class, and rulebook obligations, not just a routing label.
  • The identity primitive is the same whether settlement lands in a bank, a stablecoin, or a tokenized market.
Interoperability

The stack is engineered to interoperate with existing institutional rails, wholesale central bank systems, permissioned distributed ledgers, and regulated public networks. NOVRAILTM speaks to each environment on its own terms, then delivers a single, unified institutional outcome.

This is the structural difference. Existing rails route messages. Existing ledgers record state. The SHAKSETTLETM stack does both, and coordinates them, as one institution.
